Dermal Fillers Overview

Dermal Fillers - regain youthful facial contours and skin with fewer lines and wrinkles in just one treatment session.

We all like to think that we’ll age gracefully, but the appearance of lines and wrinkles, loss of facial volume and tear troughs under the eyes can affect some people's confidence - encouraging them to look for advice and proven ways to reverse some of these ageing effects. Many of these visible signs of ageing skin can be significantly improved, in skilled hands - and dermal fillers can play a big part in helping to deal with specific lines and wrinkles, and establish more youthful facial contours.

There are numerous Dermal Fillers available on the market (most that we would never use!), and we’ve chosen only the highest quality, safest brands (FDA approved), each with their own specialised benefits for different aspects of facial rejuvenation. We sometimes combine these with other cosmetic injectable treatments - such as Botox - to further enhance results. If you're considering treatment and would like more detailed information about cosmetic injectable treatments, how to buy them, and how to choose a reputable clinic download our free comprehensive guide to Botox and Fillers for Facial Rejuvenation here.

As one of the UK's leading medical aesthetic clinical trial and training centres, and one of only a handful of cosmetic clinics registered with the Government’s Care Quality Commission, you can be confident that our focus is your needs and that quality, training, safety and pain management are paramount in everything that we offer.

We have helped thousands of local men and women from the Birmingham area over the years and are always delighted to hear about their experience of treatment at MediZen.

P.Dutton is a local Sutton Coldfield resident who came to us to revolumise undereye hollows:

Before treatment my under eye area looked tired. After treatment my face looks refreshed and naturally younger. I would recommend this treatment to others. - P.Dutton, Sutton Coldfield

What are Dermal Fillers?

Dermal Fillers are a non-surgical way to give your skin a more youthful appearance by recontouring the face and reducing the appearance of lines and wrinkles. Unlike surgical methods, the results are subtle, and people will comment on how well you look, rather than "what have you had done"!

As well as facial lines and wrinkles, Dermal Fillers can return thinning lips to their previous full, curved appearance, and also enhance the shape of facial contours such as the chin and cheeks. Using specific techniques, the corners of the mouth, glabella lines (lines between the eyebrows) and nose-to-mouth lines can be improved.

Our practitioners combine specific techniques such as Arquederma Restoration Lift (which are used by very few UK based practitioners) in order to ensure that you get optimal results for your money. In addition, our Clinical Director Dr David Eccleston is a European Trainer for Allergan - the originator of Botox and the world's largest cosmetic injectables company - and has been involved in several clinical studies on the use of dermal fillers. You can rest assured that he really understands how to use these products to get the best possible results for you.

There are also a range of Dermal Fillers intended for lip reshaping, to add definition and give symmetrical and balanced natural looking lips – For more information, visit our Lip Reshaping and Enhancement page.

Unlike surgical treatments, the effects of Dermal Fillers are not permanent, though many are very long lasting. That means you can achieve natural-looking results without the risks associated with a facelift. Repeat treatments can be made periodically to maintain the look you desire. If you would like to reduce wrinkles and achieve smoother skin in the upper face, particularly in the areas associated with expression (i.e. crows feet and forehand), then we recommend a combination of dermal filler and Botox (Botulinum Toxin) treatments.

Dermal Fillers Side Effects

Dermal Filler injections are a safe option for skin improvement, and you’ll find the treatments only mildly uncomfortable. We use numbing cream in conjunction with fillers that contain anaesthetics to ensure that your treatment is as comfortable as possible. Some slight tenderness after the injection may take 2-3 days to vanish, particularly around the lips. Whilst Dermal Fillers are not harmful to pregnant women, we advise them to wait until after they have given birth before taking the first session.

Visia 2D and Vectra 3D Skin Analysis

Our 3 dimensional analysis allows us to look at facial contours and shape, to aid treatment planning. We use VISIA’s multi-spectral imaging to reveal signs of ageing and damage that can’t be seen by the human eye. We look at 6 different aspects on the surface and below the skin, including wrinkles, spots, pores, skin tone evenness, porphyrins (evidence of bacteria in your pores) and UV spots from overexposure to the sun. These combined systems are the ultimate way to record and review the results that we achieve in helping you to improve the way that you look.
