What is Dermaroller Treatment?

How Dermaroller Works at MediZen Sutton Coldfield

Dermaroller Collagen Induction is an effective micro skin needling treatment, that can stimulate natural skin regeneration.

Suitable for the face and other parts of the body, it can produce fantastic results in the reduction of wrinkles, sun-damage, acne scars and stretch marks.

Dermaroller comes in the form of a sterile, high quality titanium roller comprised of very fine needles. During treatment this is guided across the skin with the objective of creating thousands of tiny channels, allowing the body to use its natural recovery process to renew the skin, creating a smoother, younger appearance whilst repairing lines, wrinkles, marks and scarring caused by acne, sun-damage and other issues.

When these microscopic channels are made, deep into the dermis (middle layers) of the skin, the body is stimulated into producing new collagen. The skin becomes thicker with an increase of over 400% in collagen deposition.

Our Dermaroller treatment enables you to naturally renew and restore your skin’s clear, toned and healthy appearance with minimal time  from your life / work commitments. For another more high-tech alternative that doesn't involve needles visit our eTwo Skin Rejuvenation page.

To ensure you get the most comfortable treatment possible, we use a topical anaesthetic cream to minimise any pain caused, making this a safe and popular type of skin rejuvenation.

Your Dermaroller Experience

Before Dermaroller Treatment

Before Dermaroller treatment is carried out, you will be invited to our medically led clinic situated in Sutton Coldfield, with easy access links to surrounding areas such as Walsall, Lichfield Tamworth and Birmingham. During your consultation, we will assess your skin using our professional 2D and 3D Visia Canfield Analysis system, which evaluates your skin to help us decide whether Dermaroller is the most effective treatment approach to give you the best results.  Our expert will then discuss what results you should expect to achieve and explain to you exactly what will happen at each step of the treatment process so that you can feel informed and at ease.

During Dermaroller Treatment

During Dermaroller Medical Skin Needling treatment, first, the skin will be numbed using a special cream for 30 minutes before. Treatment sessions can range from anything between 10 - 60 minutes, depending on the area treated.

The sterile roller is guided over the surface of the skin to create many microscopic channels or columns at various depths of penetration.

Rest assured that we pride ourselves on minimising discomfort associated with any treatment that we perform at MediZen, using special techniques and procedures. In a survey of 165 clients, 87% found our treatments ‘not painful at all’, ‘comfortable’ or ‘slightly uncomfortable’.

After Dermaroller Treatment

After Dermaroller treatment the skin can look red and immediately following treatment some small bleeding may occur and there may be minor bruising. This is completely normal, and resolves rapidly, and with the application of makeup, you should be able to resume your normal life/work routine the following day. Clients who have a particularly aggressive treatment (for severe lines or scarring) may take slightly longer to recover, and we will be sure to discuss this with you at your free skin health review.

Noticeable improvements can be obtained with a single medical needling treatment, though multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve the best results. The effects are cumulative as new collagen production is stimulated in the deep layers of the skin.

Dermaroller Side Effects

No long term side effects are associated with Collagen Induction Therapy using Dermaroller.

Medical needling usually causes some small amounts of bleeding during treatment, followed by redness of the skin for the first 1-2 days. However, this is completely normal, and the skin will heal rapidly, gradually revealing refreshed, clearer skin.

Is it Suitable for me?

Collagen Induction Therapy can be used to treat all skin types, and doesn’t depend on skin colour.
