What is Sweat Treatment?

Excessive Sweating (Hyperhidrosis) can be embarrassing for sufferers as its effects can be particularly visible – sweat marks can limit your choice of clothing and desire to carry out sporting activities and be involved in social situations.

Sweat reducing treatment is a simple process that takes around half an hour. Tiny amounts of Botox is injected every centimetre or so in the treatment area. This works by reducing the effect of local nerves stimulating the sweat glands, resulting in the production of less sweat.

This treatment for Hyperhidrosis is usually not available through your General Practitioner, and there is currently limited availability in NHS Hospitals. If you are interested in seeing if you are suitable for treatment, MediZen can provide a private option.

Dr David Eccleston, Tatler’s “Man in the Midlands for Botox”, has helped a number of Hyperhidrosis sufferers. You will not find anyone else in the Midlands with more experience in the use of Botox!

Your Sweat Treatment Experience

Before Sweat Treatment

Before Sweat Treatment you will be invited for a consultation.

As a General Practitioner, Dr Eccleston has over 20 years experience in the use of various drug treatments to reduce Hyperhidrosis symptoms, and due to his knowledge in the use of Botox understands who is a suitable candidate for Botox injections - and also where the optimum injection points are. It is really important to understand that sweat reducing treatment needs to be tailored accurately to the individual, and may also vary in an individual from session to session.

During Sweat Treatment

Sweat Treatment takes places in our purpose built treatment rooms where our practitioner will make sure you are as comfortable as possible in preparation for your treatment.

During Botox for Sweat Treatment, a very fine needle is used, and most of our clients find that there is only mild and temporary discomfort.

After Sweat Treatment

After your Sweat Treatment using Botox, you may notice tenderness where the injection has been administered, which will disappear after an hour or less.

You will start to notice a difference in around 10 days and results we have achieved at MediZen using Botox have lasted for as long as 6 months. Re-treatment is necessary when excessive sweating returns.

Sweat Treatment Side Effects

Sweat Treatment side effects are rare, but can include some tenderness or bruising at the site of injection, our clients find that there is only mild and temporary discomfort.

We have treated thousands of local men and women with Botox and have experienced no long term side effects since we started using this popular treatment option. It has been proven to be quite safe to have Botulinum toxin injections for many years and some of our practitioners have been treated with Botox (for wrinkle reduction) since the late 1990s.

Is it Suitable for me?

Studies have not been performed on women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Although Sweat reducing treatment is not thought to be dangerous, treatment is best avoided during this time. Some people with certain muscle diseases may also not be able to have treatment; this will be explained when you come to discuss your suitability for this treatment at MediZen.

Although this procedure is only currently approved for use as a treatment for armpit sweating, it has also been used to treat discreet areas of sweating in other parts of the body, such as the hands and face.
